Pretty and protected. A lovely locket of iridescent bismuth crystal is featured in this round stainless steel locket. The gorgeous blue crescent moon can be removed if desired, but with such a unique locket placed around your neck, you may never want to take it off.
This cut is about the order and orientation of the crystals. Photons ricochet from one crystal's surface to another's before carrying its mesmerizing wave to your eye. When you or the crystal moves, this little light shuffle creates a holographic effect, glimmering and revealing different colors in unexpected places. It's just more beautiful than words and a few camera shots can express.
Few people associate crystal with metal with perhaps the exception for leaded glass. These crystals are solid bismuth. The element is relatively rare, even scarcer than silver in the earth’s crust. The crystals form under a crucible of the molten metal as its temperature slowly drops below the metal's melting point. The remaining liquid metal is poured off the top to reveal an array of complex geometry. As they emerge, the heat and the oxygen cause a rainbow of colors to burst to life.
